The Craft and Code Board is an innovative educational tool designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of electronics and programming. This board uses the micro:bit to empower children to design and control various craft projects through intuitive, block-based coding. This kit has been designed to provide learning material for Computer Science, with additional links to D&T, Science, Maths, Art and Geography.

The kit ships with 11 Experiment books which detail the contents of the kit, general setup information, and basic building tips for the 6 included experiments. Also included are downloadable lesson plans for each of the 6 included experiments. The experiments are; Carouse, Classification, Lighthouse, Nightlight, Selection True-False, and Wind and Electricity. Each experiment has full lesson plans, schemes of work and fully worked coding examples.

Kitronik has designed a custom extension to support the Craft & Code board in the micro:bit MakeCode Block editor. This can be added via the add Extensions function in the editor by searching “Kitronik”. The custom blocks provided enable users to seamlessly integrate their creative crafts with programmable controls, fostering both innovation and technical proficiency. This hands-on learning tool not only enhances crafting skills but also lays a strong foundation for understanding coding principles, making it an invaluable resource for young learners.
