Strafer® Chassis Kit (104mm GripForce™ Mecanum Wheels)

Drive in any direction with the Strafer® Chassis Kit! It features high-torque 312 RPM planetary motors, GripForce™ Mecanum Wheels, and everything you need to assemble a rigid, low-profile, and extensively modifiable chassis that you can reconfigure to suit your bot’s needs!

GripForce™ Mecanum Wheels
This is where the rubber meets the road (or foam tiles, in this case)! GripForce™ Mecanums are tuned for maximum traction on the soft tiles used in the FIRST Tech Challenge. The GripForce™ tread yields faster acceleration and deceleration, and stands its ground far better than smooth-roller Mecanums ever could. The 104mm diameter provides the perfect balance between speed and acceleration when paired with the 312 RPM motors in the kit.

Motors
At first glance, you might wonder: where are the motors? Flip the chassis over to see four 312 RPM 5203 Series Planetary Gear Motors seated cozily within its channel frame. These motors drive steel miter gears and bearing-supported heavy-duty hub-shafts to enable low-friction holonomic action! Equip the included 104mm diameter mecanum wheels to give the chassis a theoretical speed of 5.57 ft/sec.

Miter Gears
The motors owe their compact position to the 90° drive created by steel miter gears inside each corner of the chassis. Alongside profile-matched bores and an incredibly secure clamping mechanism that eliminates the chance of slipping, these gears feature a titanium nitride finish that helps them withstand the toughest challenges of competition!

Shafting
8mm REX™ motor shafts and hub-shafts facilitate fierce positive drive. The hub-shaft takes an all-in-one approach that elegantly minimizes the number of parts in the drivetrain, thereby maximizing reliability.

Frame
Unlike other frames that require exposed motion components, the Strafer® Chassis can fit all these premium parts inside its highly configurable goBILDA® pattern 1120 Series U-Channel structure. The repeating hole pattern throughout the structure means reconfiguring is limited only by one’s imagination. Move the cross-bars, the wheels, and more to make the chassis your own.

Premium Hardware
We put a little icing on the cake by swapping standard hardware with grade 12.9 hardware—yes, they’re incredibly strong! To sweeten the hardware a bit more, each screw has a dollop of nylon that helps keep it where you want it. Don’t worry; the nylon patch is a non-permanent solution, meaning when it comes time to move, modify, and rethink your bot, the screws can be removed and reused.
